FANS SUPPORT THE WOMEN’S GREAT BRITAIN FOOTBALL TEAM WITH SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE PLEDGES

Pledgeball are running a campaign encouraging fans of Great Britain’s football team to make sustainable lifestyle pledges in support of the women’s football team in the Tokyo summer games.

Pledgeball is an organisation that encourages fans to make lifestyle changes together as groups of fans, in support of their team. It is a challenge – what quantity of carbon emissions can Great Britain, Lionesses, Scotland Women’s Team and Wales Women’s team fans save?

Go here to make your pledge as a Great Britain football team supporter and to see the impact you’re having together. By doing this, you’ll also be entered into a prize draw to win an official top donated by Lioness Georgia Stanway. The more fixtures you pledge for, the more entries into the prize draw you get.

It’s time for fans to demonstrate their collective power:

  • Just 4,184 supporters (enough to fill the Sapporo Dome) switching to buying vintage, second-hand clothes saves the same amount of carbon emissions as taking over 3,200 cars off the road
  • The Lionesses Twitter followers all simply switching to using a shampoo bar equates to taking over 500 cars off the road

And their influence stretches beyond this, as the impact of them ripple out.

Katie Cross, Founder of Pledgeball, said ‘As a (very amateur) footballer myself, I know the potential that a football community has to make change happen.

This is such a great opportunity to showcase the potential power of this community whilst showing our support for the spectator-less Great Britain football team.

I’ve made my pledge to support them in their first game against Chile later today [21st July]!’
